Why this matters
The washout barrier keeps people from treatment
If you have been on an antidepressant for years, stopping it is not trivial. Most ibogaine providers require a complete pre-arrival washout, and they leave you to do it alone — which can mean weeks of discontinuation symptoms, returning depression, and real risk without supervision. For many people, that barrier is the reason they never get treated at all.
We built our protocol to remove that barrier safely. Instead of demanding a solo washout, we manage the taper onsite, under continuous physician supervision and cardiac telemetry, using lower ibogaine dosages with booster bridging to ease the nervous system through the reduction. The full ibogaine dose is only administered once each medication has been titrated to a protocol-defined safe threshold.
This is a validated, clinically successful approach — and it is why we can accept patients that other clinics turn away. Ibogaine is an investigational compound, and we are honest about that too.
Arrive on your current prescribed dose. We taper these under supervision with the booster protocol.
- SSRIs (Lexapro, Zoloft, Paxil, Celexa, and others)
- SNRIs (Effexor, Cymbalta, Pristiq)
- Benzodiazepines (Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan, Valium)
- Z-drugs (Ambien, Lunesta)
These carry interactions that must be handled in advance. Our team plans this with you.
- MAOIs — require ~2-week washout (serotonin-syndrome risk)
- Lithium
- Tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs)
- Tramadol
- QT-prolonging / Class III antiarrhythmic cardiac drugs
- Methadone / buprenorphine — planned transition to short-acting opioid first
Fluoxetine (Prozac) is a special case — its very long half-life means it is handled individually with medical confirmation, not the standard onsite taper. Whatever you take, our medical team reviews your full list first and tells you exactly what is needed. This page is general information, not medical advice for your specific situation.
How the booster protocol works
Bridging the taper instead of forcing it
The reason a supervised onsite taper is safer than a solo washout is the bridging. As your medication is gradually reduced, we use lower ibogaine dosages with twice-daily booster dosing to support the serotonergic and GABAergic tone the medication had been maintaining — easing the nervous system through the transition rather than letting it crash.
Only once each managed medication has been brought to a protocol-defined safe threshold is the full ibogaine dose given. The entire process runs under continuous cardiac telemetry, and your monitoring is visible to you in the patient portal — because we think you should be able to see your own safety data.
It is a research-grade, individualized process. Ibogaine is not a cure and not FDA-approved, and the integration afterward is what makes recovery last.
What makes it possible
Advanced protocol, advanced monitoring
Accept patients on medication
SSRIs, SNRIs, benzodiazepines and Z-drugs managed onsite — you arrive on your current dose, no dangerous solo washout.
Booster bridging
Lower ibogaine dosages with twice-daily booster support to ease serotonergic and GABAergic tone through the taper.
Continuous telemetry
12-lead EKG and bloodwork first, then continuous cardiac monitoring throughout the taper and session.
Portal-visible monitoring
Follow your own monitoring data in the patient portal — advanced technology you can actually see.
Honest exceptions
MAOIs, lithium, tricyclics, tramadol and certain cardiac drugs are cleared before arrival. We tell you plainly.
Full medication review
Before anything is confirmed, our medical team reviews your complete medication list and builds your plan.
