What a Day Program Is

The Experience, Done Safely, Without a Multi-Day Stay

Vaporized 5-MeO-DMT is one of the shortest-acting of the classic psychedelics. The acute effects peak within roughly 5 to 10 minutes and largely subside within 30 to 45. Because it is so short-acting, a single supervised session can be completed responsibly in one day, provided the medical structure around it is real. That is what the day program is: the full clinical setting, condensed into one focused day.

The day program is for people who want the 5-MeO-DMT experience with genuine medical safety, but who cannot commit to, or do not need, a multi-day residential retreat. You arrive, you are screened and prepared, you have the supervised session inside our facility, you recover under observation, and you sit down for a same-day integration conversation before you leave. Everything that makes the setting safe is present. Nothing that makes it safe is skipped to fit the day.

It is also an honest trade-off, and we will name it. A single day gives you the experience and the start of integration. It does not give you the extended, structured integration of our full retreat, which continues for 90 days. If deep, ongoing integration is what you are looking for, the full retreat is the better fit, and we will tell you so on the call.

What Your Day at the Facility Covers

Medical Screening

Before your session we run an EKG, check vitals, and review your medications and history. Screening is not a formality; it is where we confirm 5-MeO-DMT is safe for you, and where we turn people away when it is not.

Physician-Supervised Session

The session happens inside our medical facility with a physician and nursing staff present and your vital signs monitored continuously. 5-MeO-DMT acutely raises heart rate, blood pressure, and temperature, so this supervision is the core of what you are paying for.

Custom Scheduling

We set your session time around your day and your travel rather than a fixed group schedule. Tell us what works, and we build the day around it.

Same-Day Integration

The hours right after the experience are unusually open. Before you leave, you sit down with our team to begin making sense of what came up, so the day ends with direction rather than just intensity.

Arriving on a Cruise? Cozumel Is Your Port

A Full Program That Fits a Single Day in Port

Cozumel is one of the busiest cruise ports in the world, and the Bufo day program was built to fit a day ashore. Ships typically dock in the morning and leave in the evening, and our schedule is designed around that window: arrive at the facility any time between 9am and noon, your session begins at 1:30pm, and you finish, integrate, and return with time to be back aboard the same evening.

You do not need an overnight stay, and you do not need to add days to a trip you are already taking. Because 5-MeO-DMT is short-acting and the entire medical structure is condensed into one supervised day, a single day in port is enough to do it properly and safely. Tell us your arrival window and when you need to be back aboard, and we build the day around your ship's schedule.

The program runs daily except Sundays and is capped at 10 guests, so booking ahead of your port day matters. If your itinerary brings you to Cozumel, this is a rare chance to do a fully supervised session without rearranging your life around it.

Your Day, Step by Step

From Arrival to Departure, in One Day

01

Confidential Consultation (Beforehand)

Before your day is booked, we have a candid conversation about your history, your medications, and what you are hoping for, and we confirm whether the day program or the full retreat is the right fit.

02

Arrival & Screening Confirmation

You arrive at our Cozumel facility and we confirm your screening: EKG, vitals, and a final medication review. This is the last safety checkpoint before the session.

03

Preparation

We walk you through what a 5-MeO-DMT experience actually is, including the possibility of complete ego dissolution, and settle you into a prepared, calm space so you can meet it rather than brace against it.

04

The Supervised Session

Administration happens with a physician and nursing staff present and your vital signs monitored throughout. The acute experience is short, and you are held in a safe container the entire time.

05

Monitored Recovery

After the acute effects subside, you rest under observation until your vitals are stable and you feel grounded. We do not rush this part.

06

Same-Day Integration & Departure

You sit down with our team to begin integration while the experience is fresh, then leave with a clear sense of what to carry forward. Guests who want continued support can add integration sessions afterward.

The Distinction That Matters Most

A Supervised Day Program vs. an Unsupervised Ceremony

 IbogaineUnsupervised Ceremony
Pre-ScreeningEKG, bloodwork, medication review before the sessionOften minimal or none
Monitoring During SessionContinuous vital-sign monitoring by medical staffNo monitoring; a facilitator present at most
Medical StaffPhysician and nursing staff present throughoutTypically a facilitator or shaman, not medically trained
If Something Goes WrongImmediate capability to manage a blood-pressure or heart-rate spikeNo clinical protocols or intervention capability
Substance & DoseKnown-purity 5-MeO-DMT, known doseVariable-potency toad secretion, dose estimated
After the SessionSame-day integration, with continued support availableUsually none; you integrate alone

Want the deeper version? The full 5-MeO-DMT retreat adds structured 90-day integration. Read the 5-MeO-DMT safety guide, understand the difference between toad-derived and synthetic 5-MeO-DMT, or compare it with our ibogaine protocol. Traveling from the US? Start with treatment options near you.

Common Questions

The Bufo Day Program. Honest Answers.

The $1,450 covers your full day at our Cozumel medical facility: pre-session medical screening (EKG, vitals, medication review), a physician and nursing team present throughout, the supervised 5-MeO-DMT (Bufo) session with continuous cardiac monitoring, monitored recovery, and a same-day integration sit-down. It is all-inclusive of the day and the medical care around your session. Travel to Cozumel and lodging are arranged separately and are not part of the program price.

Yes, because 5-MeO-DMT is short-acting. The acute effects of the vaporized compound peak within roughly 5 to 10 minutes and largely subside within 30 to 45, unlike ibogaine, which requires extended overnight cardiac observation. That short duration is what makes a single, fully supervised day realistic. Every part of the medical structure is still present; the day is condensed, not cut down.

Guests arrive any time between 9am and noon, and the supervised session begins at 1:30pm. The program runs daily except Sundays. Arriving in the morning gives us time to confirm your screening and prepare you calmly before the session, and it lines up naturally with a day in port for cruise travelers.

Yes, this is exactly what the day program is built for. Cozumel is a major cruise port; ships dock in the morning and leave in the evening, and our schedule fits that window: arrive between 9am and noon, session at 1:30pm, and you are finished and integrated with time to return to your ship the same evening. Because 5-MeO-DMT is short-acting, no overnight stay is needed. Tell us your ship's schedule and we plan around it, and book ahead since space is limited.

The program is capped at 10 guests per day. We keep the group small on purpose, so physician and nursing supervision stays personal and every guest is properly screened, prepared, and monitored. Because of the cap, we recommend booking ahead of the day you want, especially around a cruise port day.

The program itself is designed to be completed in one day, and you do not stay at the facility overnight. Because 5-MeO-DMT is short-acting, extended overnight observation is not required the way it is for ibogaine. That said, we recommend not traveling far the same evening, and we are happy to advise on nearby lodging so you can rest afterward.

The day program gives you the supervised experience and the start of integration in one focused day. The full retreat adds preparation over several days and a structured 90-day integration program afterward, which is where a single session becomes durable change for many people. The day program is the right fit if you want the experience done safely without a multi-day stay; the full retreat is the better fit if deep, ongoing integration is your priority. We will give you a straight recommendation on the call.

5-MeO-DMT is a Schedule I controlled substance in the United States, which is why supervised sessions are not available there. Mexico does not classify naturally occurring tryptamines the same way, which places it among a small number of jurisdictions where a supervised session can be conducted in a clinical setting. MindScape operates in Cozumel, Quintana Roo, with physician oversight and compliance with Mexican health regulations. Traveling to Mexico is legal for US citizens; returning with the substance is not, so consult your country's customs authority.

Screening exists to keep the wrong candidates out. Contraindications include uncontrolled hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, recent heart attack, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, active psychosis or a schizophrenia-spectrum condition, pregnancy or breastfeeding, current MAOI use (including some antidepressants and ayahuasca combinations), and serotonin-blocking medications. A personal or family history of sudden cardiac death warrants careful evaluation. We screen every guest before accepting them, and we turn people away when it is not safe.

Sources and status. 5-MeO-DMT is a Schedule I controlled substance in the United States and is investigational; it is not approved by the FDA to treat any condition. Toad-derived 5-MeO-DMT comes from the Sonoran Desert toad (Incilius alvarius, formerly Bufo alvarius). Duration and receptor pharmacology: Reckweg et al., Journal of Neurochemistry (2022). Short-term safety review: Kwasny et al., Frontiers in Psychiatry (2024). Regulatory status: FDA Breakthrough Therapy Designation granted to Beckley Psytech BPL-003 for treatment-resistant depression, October 2025.
